Singhara, or water chestnut, is an aquatic crop grown in Bihar's ponds and wetlands. The fruit is crunchy, low-calorie, gluten-free, and commonly consumed raw, boiled, or ground into flour, especially during religious fasts.
Singhara has been part of Bihar’s rural diet and religious fasting rituals for centuries. It is widely used in Navratri dishes, as flour, and in Ayurvedic detox blends.
The Bihar Association of Thailand (BAT) facilitates awareness and trade connections for Singhara-based products. BAT supports farmers through export workshops, quality packaging training, and connects them to organic retailers in ASEAN markets.
