Why Visit Pawapuri?

Pawapuri, in Nalanda district of Bihar, is one of the most sacred Jain pilgrimage sites. It is the place where Lord Mahavira, the 24th Tirthankara, attained nirvana and was cremated. The Jal Mandir, a marble temple in the middle of a lotus pond, marks this holy site.
